Basically, I love this song because it reminds me to be happy and to appreciate the good life I'm living.

Themes of freedom and traveling around without any worries are encapsulated in the lyrics and listening to it just give me a sense of freedom.

When you want to isolate yourself from the crap that's going on around you, try listening to this song. Haha.

THIS SONG DID CHANGE ME FOR GOOD

Kurt and Rachel did a splendid rendition of this song from Wicked, the Musical - "For Good".

I knew I like the song the first time Rachel and Kurt sang the song in the episode "New York" but what happened was that I fell deeper in love with this track after I screened through the lyrics because it is one that is so heart-felt and personal to my life.

But I bet most of you can relate to this song - directly or indirectly.

I am sure that there's one person who you'd think of when you listen to this song - most probably, that person had brought a significant change in you, made a difference to your life, shaped your beliefs, etc.For me, when I hear this song, I think of all the people around me - mostly the people I love, but also the people I dislike. At the end of the day, this song reminds me that every single person whom I've had the pleasure to meet is destined to meet me for a reason. Whether I like the person or not, their presence in my life is for a reason or reasons. They are 'teachers', 'role models' and they are the 'lessons' to be learned.

I believe that everyone in this world is on this Earth for a reason. Perhaps, they are made significant for someone else. Although you think you are stupid or dumb, you could be someone else's role model for other things. And I guess (or try to believe) that God will always make us special in our own ways. I can't recall if this is a quote I read somewhere, or if this is just a statement I came out with myself, but I believe that "you might think you are average, but you might be special to someone else" (something that goes along this line).

Personally, I interpret that there's also the message of 'acceptance' in the lyrics of "For Good". A friend's acceptance of the person you are, and a friend who doesn't mind your weaknesses, but helps mold you to be a better person.

In a nutshell, this song reminds me to be grateful because I have people around me who loves me for who I am and cares for me, and these are the people who has shaped who I am, and helping me become a better person.

If I were to name the names of people who have changed my life, I'd present you with an endless long scroll...

But of course my parents would be on the top of my list because I've known them since birth and the huge part of my life is the way it is because of them and what they've provided me with.

I have a home, I have had a pretty awesome life all because of them...

My colleagues, my boss Stefani...

I would say my current employment has changed and shaped me the most.

My lady boss, has been an inspiration in so many ways and I've learnt so much it's beyond me. Of course there's so much more to learn but the one year journey I've had on the 'green' ship has changed me and helped me grown as I step into the adult world with more responsibility.

In my company, the captains accept me for who I am, but try to bring out the best in me.

I am most lucky to be able to meet the bunch of people I'm working with currently. There's no doubt about it. And like the song lyrics..."I believe I've been changed for the better"....although I still could work on the edges haha.

And to all my closest bestest buddies in the world King Kong, Jessie....my pillars of strength and listeners of my ridiculous requests and tormenting vents.

They are the people who practically know me inside (not literally) and out....

I really don't feel the need to fake it when I'm with them.

In fact, I believe King Kong is the one who has seen the ugliest side of me and still accepts me.....

I think she probably might be able to mind read me soon and sometimes, it freaks me out because I think she actually knows what I'm thinking.

These girls are like my big sisters whom I try to model (although, barely successfully)

Both of them are in my life for a reason and really, in some ways, I think I'd be most sad to lose them as friends.

So, I'd take this chance to dedicate this song to my parents, my colleagues, bosses, and my two bestest buddies because all of you I've been changed "For Good".

I SAY I LIKE "WHO SAYS"

This is an exhibit of a simple, but good song.

Okay, if you are thinking Rebecca Black, erm, rethink

Well, I have nothing against Rebecca Black; I mean her song is quite childish, but well, it's quite fun to sing along.

But let's not go there.

Let's talk about Selena Gomez. Her first few singles were not my cup of tea to be honest.

So I remained impartial when it comes to Gomez...I think she is a pleasant teen, but there wasn't any reason to like the stuff she's doing. One thing, I'm no fan of her Disney acts and like I said, not a fan of her songs as well.

However, her latest song "Who Says" gave me a reason to enjoy her star factor.

I heard this song some time back on the radio, liked it, but forgot about it.

Her performance on Dancing with the Stars the other day reminded me about this simple but lovely track.

Her live singing, was, well, acceptable, but the dance and the whole 'live' setting makes the whole performance a good one. :)

So yeah, I think the song is great - simple but inspirational...words are just pleasantly fitted into a few good beats that get you kinda moving. I like simple songs like these sometimes...gets you up and in the mood.

So enjoy "Who Says" because you deserve a good mood lifter and a confidence boost!

SERENDIPITY IS ALWAYS SWEET; THINGS HAPPEN WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT

Lee Dewyze's was the season I skipped as I sorta lost interest.

But since his style is so similar to Kris Allen's, I sorta liked that he won.

But I didn't expected that he was actually that good, because to be honest, he didn't really captured my attention as he was overshadowed by the likes of Casey and Crystal.....But oh well, it's not fair for me to judge since I didn't watch the show at all, and practically skipped all his performances.

I discovered his talents through Youtube when I was busy searching for Kris Allen's tracks. His rendition of "Everybody Hurts" was what captured my attention, because it was so good!

I began to start searching for more of his songs - but then again, his best was still "Everybody Hurts", although his rendition of U2's "Beautiful Day" did come close.

Was pretty excited when his first single, "Sweet Serendipity" was released, but to be honest, it was only so-so to my ears the first time I heard it...not like those songs that just capture you like "WOW".

The song's melody was okay, but sadly, can't really hear the words he was singing and so, I wasn't really enjoying it.

But like certain songs I love, it takes a few times before the ears start liking what they hear. It was while I was stuck in a traffic jam, where I really understood what Lee was conveying through this track and it strikes me at the moment that THIS IS A GREAT SONG!

The song is meaningful and I believe it contains 3 simple messages that I believe in:

- "Don't Worry, Be Happy"...(because...)

- "Things Happen when you least expect it"

- And I guess, it tells us to be grateful too. :)

I feel like I do live by the words he is singing; and if I get too low or sad, I'll try to remember the messages...

Sometimes, we might feel that we do not have as much as what others have but we should be grateful for what we have around us. We can't predict our future, what's gonna happen next, so there's no point being upset or sad about the situation we are in. The best thing to do is to enjoy what we have now and live the moment. :D

I try to do that every day, try...I'm only human, and there's only so many days I can fake a smile and be happy and disregard all the sadness. But come to think of it, at the end of the day, being sad about a situation is the worst thing you can do because it is useless.

My dad said the other day, looking back, didn't we make it through all our hardships?

Yes, it wasn't the easiest times of our lives - we struggled and we fell and we learned and we've been sad, we've cried....but at the end of it....didn't we pull through?

That's the thing about life - we just need to get through that particular rough patch. There's always a rough patch but we only need the patience and the strength to go through it.

It's true that I feel that I'm doing just fine although there were a couple of times, I've felt so low that I felt I can't climb back up. But just like sang in the song, I know there's something or someone out there watching over me and every time, I made it through; we made it through. One thing I always force myself to think is that "Everything is temporary, you won't be sad for too long".

I have my requests but at the end of the day, although I do feel sad sometimes when I don't get the things I want, I've learned to be thankful for all the great things I have. I really do love everything that I've got, and really, I shouldn't be asking for more. :)

And if there's one thing I ask for more than anything, is the strength to go through every day - strength to go through the problems, the challenges, the things I hate, the people who get in the way...strength to face all of this and still be happy.

And the most important of all, it is true that we need strength to let go because I feel that it there is one thing that's hardest to do, it is to learn to let go. Letting go is really tough although it seems easy saying it.

Yep, that's how I live life sometimes - no planning what-so-ever...

I just go by the sway of the winds, I guess it's bad in some ways, but sometimes, I feel that planning too far is a waste of time because you just don't know what will happen anyway, and chances are, things might not even turn out the way you planned. So really, why waste time planning when I can just live the moment?

That's how I have always opted to think. When people ask me, where do I see myself 30 years from now...I can't really give a definite answers...there are so many things I want to do, and I guess I can only tell them what I will try to do and do whichever that presents the opportunity at the right time.

I've learned that there's no point pushing things, no point wanting desperately for something....don't get me wrong, it's not that I'm asking you not to fight for it, or not to work hard for something; I'm just saying, you'll have to learn to let go when the time isn't right. I have learned that sometimes, things might not work out the way I want it to be (for example, I still did not manage to be a journalist, as I aspired to), but in the end, things are working out for me in different ways. And I'll never know what will happen and what I'll end up doing 10 years from now.

So the best thing to do is live the moment and wait for your sweet serendipity. It comes quite often. :)

FINDING MY WAY IN 2011

This is an example of a song in which I just casted aside for no particular reasons, mainly because I generalized most of these songs as the same - sounds great melodically, but with lame lyrics about love and so, I never really bothered to give them a chance. I guess the fact that we are not very good in Mandarin also fended me from these types of songs - I usually never bothered to listen to the lyrics in particular.

It started off with me teasing my sister for listening to songs like these (all music, no substance) when she played it on her computer. She then told me that this is a very meaningful song. She explained that she too teased her friends during Karaoke session when they sang it, before she realized how meaningful this song is.

Can't help it but give it a listen because to be honest, the song does sound nice melodically.

Then I realized that my sister is right - the song is really meaningful and inspirational.

I decided to share this song on the 1st of January 2011, because I think personally, it is a good song to start a new year, the perfect song to greet an older me - a song to push me forward and embrace whatever hardship or challenges that are about to come my way in 2011.

I guess I suddenly thought of this song as I was driving towards Wangsa Maju yesterday to meet my college friends. It has been more than a year since I went back to the place I had some of the best memories - my college life where I met some of the best friends, whom all I've developed great affection for. I realized how grown up I've became since. I remember being the freshly out of Secondary school 17-year-old, waiting to embrace whatever college has to offer. Then it was a series of learning how to cope with the new environment, new people, new style of studying, basically a whole new life.

Then 22 brought us all to Liverpool where we embarked on another great life journey. There I found another batch of great friends, whom I shall also treasure for life and whom I will love dearly. Great and happy moments passed very fast because in a blink of the eye, I found myself thrown into the world of grown-ups, working and making a living.

There were so many tough times that I've waded through (although compared to many, my 'tough times are really peanuts) and I believe that there'll be more times like that in which I'll feel like not going on anymore. This song is a reminder of the fact that as we grow up, we have to learn to face the challenges ourselves and move on a step at a time.

It's about discovering yourself as you grow up and mature as a person, about chasing your dreams and finding the path in life that leads you there - thus, a great song to get me motivated for 2011!!!!

Okay, call me pathetic (PATHETIC), but you gotta admit that this song is darn romantic right?

Oh come on, that is sweet...

But at the same time, I feel sad for the dude if the girl has really moved on with her life.

This song is beautifully written...great choice of words I must say. A story told in the best possible words. Love it!

I don't know why but I feel sad listening to this song. It's a sad song...if you are a pessimist, like me.

And I'm always touched when someone does something beautiful for the person he/she loves.

A guy who would wait for you, on the corner of the street you meet? Oh well, I mean I know for sure that not all guys would do that, but I guess there is always one jewel among the other crap.

I don't expect guys to do special things like this for me, but when I see some guys doing such beautiful things for the woman they love, I can't help but feel really touched. Oh hello, I'm still a girl and every girl has that romantic fairytale side in them whereby they wish for a prince charming. But of course, as we grow up, we've learned to accept the harsh reality. Nevertheless, there are a few lucky ones who manage to find Prince Charming. :)

A song worth sharing.

I seldom share Malay songs, I guess there are really none worth sharing so far.

But this one is one of my favourite.

I forgot about it, can you believe it?

The other day, I was honoured to be invited to an Australian Annual Gala dinner, and had the pleasure of being serenaded by Ning Baizura as she was the guest performer.

When she introduces that she is going to sing this song, I was ecstatic! Can't believe that I actually have the privilege of being in the presence of such an iconic singer, and singing one of my favourite songs by her.

The great thing is, this lady can really sing. She was fantastic live, it's unbelievable!!

I think I'm most proudest when the Australians actually complimented her.

Life is tougher and tougher.

I'm facing challenges that I am struggling to overcome.

I'm trying hard to be positive and learn from the hardship that is overwhelming to me.

Trying to cope with my problem of not being to sleep normally, eat healthily and keep myself living a happier lifestyle.

If you a person who is skeptical in love, you'd appreciate this song. You wish that there's that one person who is the only exception, the one who can bring you that happiness that you've wished for and longed for.

I love this song the moment I heard it.

It's the only famous Paramore song that I enjoy and actually can say I love.

When I was younger I saw my daddy cry

And curse at the wind

He broke his own heart as I watched

As he try to reassemble it

I'd never sing of love if it does not exist

I've seen many people broke up and hurt themselves as they try to get back on track and find that person worth loving again.

I admit that I never believe that love lasts, maybe because I have seen and experience what it's like to see people around me change and I realized that I also change.

Nothing lasts. Happy moments are only as good as it gets for now but in future, it might be lost and what is left are only memories of what we once have. At the rate that feelings and emotions change, I really am starting to believe more and more that nothing lasts - not friendship and not love.

It has always made me feel sad that things have to change...and I guess that's why I never took the leap of faith in love. I try to force myself to believe that perhaps being single and alone is ok, I should be contented although there were times of loneliness in which I wished that there were someone.

Personally, I do not need to use this song yet, but I guess I would if when I meet the right guy who is worth me singing this song to.

I was in Langkawi when I truly felt this song and fell in love with it.

I was traveling along a road at night and had the sound of "Hello" in my ears.

That moment...I truly listened to the lyrics and what it is all about and it touched my heart.

I guess anyone who is desperately in love with someone and can't seem to express those words would appreciate the song. Sadly, there is no one I can relate to with this song at the moment but still, the way it was sang by the cast of Glee gives me chills!

Jonathan Groff, although portraying a cruel character in Glee has got the voice and I am really in love with his delivery of "Hello". This song was originally sung by Lionel Richie, but no matter what you say about me, Glee's version is better hahahaha!

Funny how music plays such an important part in my life now and I don't even take the time to write about it anymore.

I love the sounds of We The King's the moment the song "Check Yes Juliet" rocked the airwaves.

Their music always give me this special feeling, in which I feel that I'm out of this world!

Their music carries a faster pace but at the same time romantic!

Their latest single featuring Demi Lovato has once again made its way to my favourite songs list.

Nothing particularly memorable about the song but I guess it is a song about reminiscing, and reminiscing the good old days is what I like to do most.

There are many college days that I'd like to relive, moments that I'll go through over and over again...without any complains.

So I'm not sure how many of you have heard this cute rap song by Taylor Swift, a parody of Love Story, by the name of Thug Story.

It was released quite some time ago but I just didn't share it. It is a very cool song in which Swift collaborated with T-Pain for the MTV Music Award (if I got my facts right).

So ya, I realized that Taylor Swift does a pretty cool job rapping.

Her version was brilliant but I guess I'd like to also share my version, tailored to tell a bit about ...well, my story, although, most parts were just taken from Taylor Swift...muahahaha.

One word which denotes a concept that many wished that their partner would adhere to.

Faithfully

A song in which I wish to share.

I believe this track has been on the US Top 40 charts for the past few weeks (if I'm not mistaken) due to the popularization by the cast of Glee. I fell in love with the song when I watched Lea Michelle who played Rachel and Cory Monteith who played Finn in Glee marched out of that concert door, first in a very subtle but touching voice before blasting the stereos with their climatic but wonderful rendition of Journey's "Faithfully". The feeling the song gave me, was indescribable for some reason - it definitely created the climatic moment for that particular last episode of Glee.

In the beginning, I love the song because when I listen to it, I feel a connection to the cast of Glee and their journey. Its melody also somehow touches me in a good kind of weird way.

But then after listening to its lyrics, I appreciate the song for its meaning, brilliantly describing a feeling of love that I never had for someone, but then, wished I could feel for someone.

My take on the song is how a musician describes being loved by a woman and because she sacrificed so much for him, he sort of vowed that he will be forever hers, faithfully.

When I listen to this song, I like to imagine myself as the girl who fell in love with a guy who is a musician and then relate it to how our love is for one another.

I love how the first two verses narrate in perfect imagery of a man who is constantly on the road, traveling, but is always thinking about the girl he loves, who is waiting faithfully back home for his next return. Since the man is constantly traveling, the woman perhaps felt that it won't be ideal to have a child grow up without a father who is always there, and thus, sacrificing her rights of being a mother.

I feel that the man truly felt touched by how the woman is still so loyal to him and would make such difficult decisions, such as to not mother a child, just to be with him.

It's not always fun to be a performer. Imagine being sad but having to still put on that smiling face. And the things that were once done because of passion, has become meaningless repetitions. The man ponders that without the love of the woman, he won't know what purpose he has in the world.

I love this verse because I feel that it is very true.

If my husband were a traveling man, every time he comes back after a long time, I guess my love for him would be stronger. We're like strangers who will learn to fall in love again and it'll be like seeing that guy for the first time all over again...and although for some, that might not work out, I guess for this man, he loves the feeling of being able to rediscover the woman he loves again.

For me, I think that would be a beautiful thing too. Sometimes when you are seeing that someone 24-7, you just get so bored and your partner will slowly get on your nerves. But not seeing someone often makes you realize how badly you miss and love that person, strengthening the bond and the love relationships between the couple.

This is one of my favourite Glee song among the other splendid tunes.

Say what you want about Glee but it is one of the best TV series ever!

A SONG THAT TOUCHES ME SKIN DEEP

Rascal Flatts never fails to convey beautiful stories through their songs/music.

I'm a big fan of their melodic country style of music, and I am just naturally inclined to their sounds. So for me, it's very hard to not love Rascal Flatt's songs.

There are tonnes of great Rascal Flatts songs which I'd love to share but today I picked this particular one for it reminds me of some of the people I love.

This is one of many songs by Rascal Flatts that melted my heart.

If you have lost someone to cancer, I believe this song will definitely wet your eyes.

Besides the awesome descriptive lyrics, it has a nice touching melody that just gets the best of you.

I love how the words tell a complete story - describing even the red cells and white and her hair falling and how sad it feels to witness for yourself the reality of an illness that is striking you.

The most touching part was when the boy she loves shaved his head just to make her feel better about her losing her hair...

I believe that it is safe to say that almost everyone of us has lost someone to cancer.

I have a few close and distant relatives who lost in their battle with cancer. Cancer changes people's life, not just the one with the illness, but also the lives of people around cancer victims.

What this song did not describe is the further pain and consequences of cancer, which is far worst than just loosing a couple strands of hair.

The pain of chemotherapy, the emotional rollercoaster that one has to bear and go through, feeling sick and terrible and weak makes you burst in frustration, perhaps many times, knowing that you have also indirectly hurt the ones you love. I think these are the more painful experiences that a cancer patient and their love ones have to wade through.

Some call fighting cancer a losing battle although there were also those who managed to triumph. But honestly, all the people around me who were diagnosed with cancer, had never champion the battle before.

Thus I really hate cancer and I also fear it. But perhaps to win it, is to not be afraid. As human, doing that is hard because we have too much to lose. We as human do not want to leave our loved ones behind, we do not want to leave our jobs, our lives and so we suffer even more.

I guess the best way to fight cancer is to not feel afraid and that usually can be done when we have love. Just like Sara Beth, when she is in the arms of her first love.

Besides the brilliant song, I also have to credit the music video!!!

Seriously, the music video complements the song and makes it so much better.

I love how still pictures were used to tell the story. This is another great example of how simple things can be made into something beautiful and meaningful.

I can always relate to this song when I'm defeated in a battle to overcome insecurities.

Throughout my teenage life, I've always had to deal with some people commenting on the way I look.

I was never the prettiest, never the girl with the hot body, never the girl who got the best-dress award. Sometimes I really don't care what others say but there are times when things like these get to your self-defense system, it's like getting huge punches in your security system.

I have real sensitive friends but I also have friends who are not as sensitive. There's always a fine line between being honest and tactlessly shoving negative comments onto another's face without realizing that others could be hurting. I've survived most of the time due to this happy mechanism that is propelled automatically in face of adversity. I used to be even more positive but I guess the magic is slowly wearing out.

These few days, I am feeling even more and more insecure that I feel that I just don't really want to do anything because I really just don't care. I'm tired and basically unmotivated due to lack of confidence.

Tied together with A Smile by Taylor Swift nicely tells a story of how I'm feeling sometimes, and perhaps also right now.

This song Taylor wrote after she found out that one of her friends is suffering from an eating disorder. Her friend seems so happy and cheerful all the time that none of them realized the fact that she is so insecure and unhappy with her own looks.

I guess most of the time, people just see my smiley face although there are the occasional black face due to stress. But generally, I force the smile on my face or I just keep quiet during the darkest of times, when I'm sad or when I just want to cry my heart out. No one really knows how I feel most of the time because I hide it with smiles and laughters. Although sometimes it is obvious that I'm sad, most of the time not many knows how hurt I get because of the things they say or do. When people makes fun of me, I just laugh along. Many also underestimates me, thinking that I'm stupid...I just move on and try to shove all negative comments..But how long more can I face all these? Well, I guess that is again part and parcel of life.

Usually I cry my heart out when I'm alone because that is to me, the best way I know to release all the sadness...But no one knows that I've been crying silently...

Perhaps, I'll never stop dreaming...as it will only last as a dream.

I can honestly say that adult life has really stripped off a lot of cheers within me. But then again I'm thankful that I do have a few colleagues who manage to restore the happy momentum. But still, it'll never be the same as back then I guess because we just have to move on.

I feel fat, I feel that I'm looked down upon at work, I feel untrusted, I feel ugly, I feel NEGATIVE.

NO MORE WAITING FOR MIZZ NINA & COLBY

Of course I'm proud that one of our local artiste, Mizz Nina, collaborated with an international artiste, Colby O' Donis. I mean, O' Donis has great international tracks with Lady Gaga and Akon and now, he has added a Malaysian into his list, so it is pretty awesome.

In fact, the offspring of their collaboration is now stuck in my head.

I pity Mizz Nina because she wasn't really judged based on her talent, but rather her background. Apparently she is one Tan Sri's daughter. Honestly, I didn't know of her background and when I first heard the song, I didn't know it is done by a local artiste. And I thought it was good, so honest from my heart, I think this song is not bad regardless of who she is or her nationality. It has nothing to do if she's Malaysian or not etc. But like I said, I'm proud that another Malaysian came out with another decent track.

I really love the song "What You Waiting For".

It's been quite some time since I'm so into a local song, since Disagree's "Crumbs" and a few of Jason Lo's songs.

I believe there are some more sophisticated music lovers who are laughing at my choice of local music because there are some other indie bands which music could be way better.

No doubt that Mizz Nina's track is a bit more commercialized, but so what, right? As long as it has a feel good beat that is catchy and gets everybody in a happy mood, it works. At the end of the day, a good track is not only defined by how classy they are or how abstract their lyrics are, but how the whole song gets to you, in a good way of course.

I love almost everything with the song.

However, it again adopts the typical R&B style whereby the lyrics sorta repeats itself over and over again. Thus, lyrics wise, it really ain't that great. I mean, it's sorta like Wil.I.Am and Usher's OMG, in which they practically just repeated Oh oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, Oh My God, as if this expression ain't popular enough. Also, remember PitBull's "I Know You Want Me"...he can't emphasize enough his ego and his 'perasan-ness'.

But then again, the repetitious lyrics ain't really a huge problem for me.

If I really have to criticize this song, it has to be the MUSIC VIDEO!!!

Borrowing Usher & Wil.I.Am's song, it's really OMG!!!!!

I mean, you have a gorgeous, beautiful Mizz Nina and you have Colby O'Donis, and you have this, excuse my language, crappy music video that doesn't do any justice to both of them and the song!!!

Now I heard that Mizz Nina funded the music video, so give her a break, she has low budget etc etc.

But seriously, one can do WAY better than that with low budget.

First of all, WHAT IS WITH THE TORCH LIGHT??????????

Why are they holding that stupid torchlight??

I really doesn't mean anything and honestly, the whole music video doesn't have a clear storyline despite effort to create a storyline.

What was Mizz Nina doing at first pushing all the men out? And then suddenly she's on the phone with Colby?

I'm thinking that she's a policewoman of some sort who is smitten with one of the bad guy, Colby. But she isn't even dressed like a policewoman and it was awkward when she holds that torch light.

In the end, it was way weirder when Mizz Nina and O'Donis tried to be intimate. So not working....Mizz Nina is sexy but then it is not natural seeing her trying to create the impression that she and O'Donis are going to have a make out session. Their acting not natural enough because I guess deep down, Mizz Nina is still the sweet Malaysian girl.

So I have actually thought of a cooler idea for the video. Don't laugh, but I think it is a bit better than the one they made lar.

Since everyone feels that there's a need to celebrate the life of Micheal Jackson, I guess I should also do a little tribute to the King himself.

He left us on 25 June 2009 and on the 25th of June 2010, we find most Malaysian English radio stations playing MJ's songs for 24 hours. Seriously, do you know the consequences of doing this? You'll actually make people sick of MJ's songs man!

I was on Hitz and I hear "You Are Not Alone", and then I went to FlyFM, and it was their turn to play the song, and I was so desperate that I tuned into MixFM as well, and "You Are Not Alone" was playing again! I know I'm not alone but seriously, 3 times listening to this song makes me rather be alone.

I am not denying the fact that MJ is a legend - his moonwalk, his "yeee-heee", his turning from black to white...all these made him unique and the one and only MJ. So we do need to pay a tribute to him on this day, but personally, I feel there are many ways of doing so than just bombarding the airwaves with MJ's tracks.

Last year at this time, I remember sitting at Atlantic Point's common room with my housemates, and they were drinking beer when this news was on. It was definitely one shocking news for us. And that time, there were also many tributes to MJ and some TV channels featured 1-hour MJ special programming by playing videos of some of his best songs. That time, it wasn't that annoying because it was only 60 minutes of MJ and listening to those tracks really brought back memories and we were all enjoying every track. Some channels rolled documentaries on MJ.

The next morning, MJ's "Earth Song" echoed the whole of Atlantic Point (the name of our hostel). Although it was repeating itself, I love the atmosphere the song brought with it. It made me love "Earth Song". Thus, I'd say my favourite MJ song to date is actually "Earth Song".

One very strong and powerful music video too...Very nice...

So in memory of MJ, I think I'll just make a list of the top 5 MJ songs I love...

Number 5 - Billie Jean

Number 4 - Black or White

Most of MJ's contains messages about loving human nature and each other and about equality.

Although at certain point I think MJ has gone cuckoo, but I guess he had a good heart but fame screwed up his sanity. I mean, perhaps I shouldn't judge but from documentaries or feature stories of him that I've watched, some of the things he say is really out of this world. Oh well, perhaps I just don't have the creativity to understand and imagine that the impossible can happen...for example, when MJ quotes that him turning white is a natural process. Hmm....

Okay what AM I DOING?

It is MJ's day and we should be highlighting the good.

I think MJ writes some of the most meaningful and really catchy & fun tracks and that is why his songs are perennial. The opening of "Thriller" can get anyone excited just by listening to the first 2 beats...

His "You Are Not Alone" I believe is one of the most overused songs by guys to woo girls.

His "Black or White" highlights racial discrimination in the world and indirectly telling the world that we are all the same inside, no matter how different we are on the outer layer.

MJ has brought to the music scene something extraordinary (besides love songs that help guys win girls' hearts) and that is how he will be remembered.

MJ is really a huge lost to the music industry and one that is irreplaceable.

As much as I dislike Miley Cyrus, I have to admit that when she does good tracks, she does good tracks.

Although I find her swerving towards 'slutsville', sometimes, when she does decent tracks like the one I'm introducing here, I sorta see some hope in her staying on her old country roads.

I know perhaps for a person who sings like an eagle's squawk, I am really in no position to give criticism but if you really are interested to know what I feel about Miley Cyrus, I do NOT like her voice, nor her over-the-top acting in Hannah Montana. Sorry kids....I really don't get the Hannah Montana hype.

But then since some people are making money from the merchandises and soundtracks, then I shall shut up lar haha.

Anyway, "When I Look At You" is like just another love just but if we sing it in a different context, one can dedicate it not to just a lover, but to basically everyone you love.

But I guess love songs like this are for people who are still madly in love in life. For them, they can appreciate and submerge into the lyrics better. For me, the closest people I can relate the song to are my family and friends, which are VIPs in my life.

I think she should really stick to more mellow tracks...Help me like her more, or well, at least her music a bit more. I mean country at the end of the day, is still my cup of tea.

This song is OST of "The Last Song", a movie which stars Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth.

Is it any good? Well I've yet to watch it but I'm pretty certain that from the looks of it, it is definitely a "A Walk To Remember" and "Dear John" kinda movie., since well, it is based on Nicholas Spark's novel.

This is one of those romantic movie that has a drastically depressing ending (even the poster looks depressing) or one hell of a touching ending, that will indirectly contribute to the massacre of more trees in the forests in order to produce the tissue we use to wipe our tears.

After flashing through the synopsis online, the movie is partly about father-daughter relationship, besides first love. Isn't Miley sick of starring in all these father-daughter movies? I mean, I am sick of her playing these roles...so sorry man. Besides, it is super obvious that 80 to 90% of the movie would be on love ANYWAY.

Nevermind....save the critics for later. I haven't even watch it yet and so I could end up liking the movie.

THE MOST IMPORTANT VOICE OF ALL

These 3 lines alone are enough to soaked up my eye balls.

It's really hard not to feel emotional when you hear this song. It's such an inspirational song that it helps you believe again; especially when you are down, this song makes you cry like a baby when you hear it.

I feel that this song conjures the presence of something, when you feel that there's nothing left.

The song provides comfort, within the strokes of its melodic lines.

Now that's a good song.

Never really a fan of Christina Aguilera growing up due to childishness. I was so-called pro-Britney, anti-Christina, for no particular reasons.

But as age got the better of me, I began to realize that idolizing is kinda stupid (though I admit my guilty pleasures of adoring hot hunks and adorable geeks) and I turn to appreciate songs more for what they have to offer lyrically.

Undeniably, besides her powerful pipes in which Christina Aguilera shows off through the extension of her jaws, she also did a few good meaningful tracks that deserve credits.

One such song is "The Voice Within".

Picture yourself crying alone, feeling that there's nothing left in this world worth living for because you feel like a failure.

I don't know how many of you have felt that way before but despite my inflated ego, I admit that I have felt that miserable before, experienced unbearable mental and emotional pain that I feel like tearing my heart or brains apart - whichever way that can help destroy the problem altogether.

Then a voice says this:

My dad has repeatedly drum in me this particular teaching of the wise Buddha - that things or situations are never permanent.

One day your up and another, you could be down. You will never be sad forever...your tears will dry.

It is never going to be easy going through a rough patch in life, especially when that period feels like it last for years. I always look at my dad and is amazed at the way he can always seem to do it. With dad's words and spirit in mind, I've gone through some of the toughest moments of my life, though on the way, I pestered a lot of people with the rhythms of my vents.

But I guess I'm lucky in so many ways. The fact that I can write about all these and make myself feel better shows that I have my parents who keep pumping in me words of encouragement so that I can go the extra mile.

Like expressed in the song, there are people with no guidance as to how to overcome the sorrows and pains in life, and they learn the hard way what those difficult moments offer. I'm not the most positive person in the world (though I used to be kinda positive), but I think my dad has programmed in us that challenges in life only make us stronger, so much so that I just have to think so.

For those who feel like there is no one, it's not true.

For one thing, there's always God and for another, you still have yourself, and the voice inside you. I might be crazy but I always talk to that voice inside of me, which I believe had led me to develop a constant-mutter-to-myself habit. There are times that I shout out ridiculous lines, that don't make any sense to anyone, except myself and that voice I'm talking to. Please tell me I'm not going 'cuckoo'. Oh well, this song is a relief. It encourages us to seek the voice within and trust it some more! Wah! I'm sane!

I guess it is true that sometimes we should listen to our hearts instead of the head. I'm the type that follows the heart instead of the brain...so ya, I am usually deemed emotional but I guess there are times when your heart just knows, you know. If everything is done according to logic, I guess then creativity won't exist. Before I deviate further, I shall make a U-Turn to go back to the main point - TRUST YOUR VOICE WITHIN AND TRUST WHAT YOUR HEART SAYS! I guess no matter how many 'advisors' we have, only we ourselves know what is best for us. And thus, the voice within has one of the biggest say in your decision-making process. And I believe many times, it is also that voice that gives us the strength, because only you can tell yourself to set up your mind and not give up. No one can tell you what to think, except your voice within.

This verse is like a big tight slap that reds my face not just because of the impact, but also because of embarrassment.

I'm the kind of girl who always tries to run away from problems and challenges. Most of the times I just want to throw everything and leave all the troubles behind.

But there are no escapes in life actually.

It is not easy at all...most of the time I guess I'm just forced into situations whereby I just can't run. But if I could, I really would run.

I'm sure that some of you know what I mean. And I'm sure that most of you agree that after that particular rough patch, at the end of it, we look back, it really was just an experience. I admire people who can just strive through hardship effortlessly, well, they just make it look easy I guess.

The general advice is to just 'hold tight and soon we'll see the brighter day'. But then the dark clouds will definitely come back and then, again, we sit and wait for the next wind of change. That's basically part and parcel of life I guess. You are just riding along whatever that comes and there's no saying when the wind will blow away them dark clouds. But then there's also a saying that every cloud has a silver lining, and so, find the silver lining if there's still no sunshine. Of course it's always easier to pour out words of wisdom than the execution of wisdom itself because some of us are emotionally driven rather than logically designed.

When you look outside, look inside to your soul

Not easy to have your own ideas and point of views as there is always someone out there who will drag you down by giving you words from hell.

You want to stand by your beliefs, but you are encircled with the fire of fear - scared of being wrong, scared of being made fun of, scared of failing etc. I'm one of those who is very opinionated but at the same time, I find my head the functioning as a storeroom for my thoughts, instead of exhibiting my opinions and ideas.

There are times also when we feel so pressured that we subdued to the public's perception of what is good and what is bad, although we have our own way of looking at things. The norm is constantly perceived as correct and good and righteous by the society...and thus. sometimes we just conform to the society rather than transform them. But I guess the song reminds us that before we let others judge us, we should know who we really are first. It is the voice within us that should determine who we are and empower us to carry on despite the negatives flying around.

Life is a journey

I think this is one of many good inspirational songs that should be remembered and shared. You'll never know when one simple song can reduce someone's pain or heartache or stress to 3 minutes of light pleasure.

EVEN THE STREETS REMINDS ME OF LIVERPOOL

I just realized that it's been more than a month since I last blog about music.

This is mainly due to a hell of a hectic schedule I have at work. But finally, things are easing off a bit and I finally have more time for myself.

And it so happen that I am free at this time of the year, when it is the first anniversary of our Liverpool experience last year. And the saddest thing is, we miss Liverpool so much that it literally hurts!

I do my best so that I can relive certain moments in Liverpool, but seriously it is hard. One of the best I can do is to put on my headphones, blast the music and close my eyes as I listen to songs that accompanied me down the streets of Liverpool.

As I am writing this, the next batch of students are already exploring Liverpool - the streets, the Tesco and their room in Atlantic Point.

Oh God, the thoughts of those memories really sear my heart! I want to go back there so bad it hurts!!

I don't know why that despite the pain I feel thinking about Liverpool, I still want to think about it! I still want to hold on to that moment of my life. So today, I shall introduce one song that reminds me a lot of Liverpool.

Even its title aptly describes one thing that I misses most about Liverpool, the streets!

In memory of Liverpool

MY SECOND ANDREW'S'

I think I've never shared with you songs by this singer before, although I really kinda like her.

She is perhaps one of the most underrated country singer I've known because some of her songs are actually very good, but I don't know why she is not given the credits and publicity she deserves.

She's one sweet country babe who tries her best to maintain a more innocent image, but in some ways, she later surrendered to the needs of the industry.

There was one album in which she adopted a sexier image, but still it didn't work for her. Hmm..but she does have talent. Just sad that she is unappreciated.

Jessica Andrews started singing at the age of 13 by the way and her vocals surpasses many in the industry. But like I said, she wasn't given the boost she needed to make a blasting career in the music industry.

I have a few Jessica Andrew favourites but today, I'm recommending this one since Earth Day was like what, 2 days ago?

This song is about seeking forgiveness for what we, humans did to the world; to Earth, to Mother nature and basically, apologizing for all the consequences due to our destructive actions.

This is one song that makes us ponder on what we have done and what we can do to make up for all our past mistakes.

In many ways, I think we've caused a lot of destruction - war or pollutions - and we should wake up now to what will happen if we don't stop doing the things we do.

While the people up there are busy fighting political wars, people down there are suffering.
While the people are chopping trees and polluting rivers with chemicals to make money, our Nature is taking the blows.

I guess as humans, we never look ahead but rather regret only when the disastrous consequences hit us right in the face. I'm no angel seriously; I'm not religiously doing my part to save Mother Earth.

But I guess songs like these once again rings the bell and at least in some ways, ring my conscience when it comes to protecting the environment.
And hopefully, it would also knock those powerful people on the head, so that they can make necessary changes to make our world a better place. I think they can start by doing something about warfares.
Oh well, then again when 2012 comes...

I don't know about you but I'm that kinda person who really cares about what others think and feel about me sometimes. I think I care what people I like think about me.

I mean sometimes when I meet someone new that I feel I really like to befriend, I usually really hope they like me too and you know, sorta hope they don't have anything negative to say.

And most the time, I'm so sensitive about things that it hurts when I hear certain criticism (though there's no doubt, sometimes I get over it real quick haha) but there are times where the sadness lingers.

My sis has this philosophy in life in which she doesn't care about what others think about her because she has this "who needs them anyway" attitude. It's cool in some ways because she doesn't really care and thus, her confidence will not falter no matter what others say.

But if you are like me and you can't live with knowing people don't like you, you just can't feel good about yourself sometimes. Well my situation is not that bad lar, I still am not that pathetic but what happens sometimes is, people like us tend to try to change who we are just to be accepted.

That's why we need some words of wisdom and inspiration as reminder to get us going and to remind us to always be ourselves no matter what others say.

Haha.

Okay let me introduce this song to you. This is one of my UK song. When I say my UK song, it means I listened to this song a lot when I was walking down the streets of Liverpool.

Not that I'm very depressed in UK, it's just that I was very into Justin Nozuka at that time.

I believe many of you might have heard of Justin Nozuka (erm not Justin Bieber okay), Justin Nozuka pens some of the best songs. He has a certain unique style to his songs and I just find his tracks very relaxing and nice to the ears. Plus, he writes meaningfully so the songs are not full of crappy lyrics.

Okay this is one fun song....it's all about party-ing baby!!

And in Glee, they sorta turn it into a more sexy song lar hahaha, but the song originally does carry instances of sex haha. I mean, what else can one mean by pushing it?

It is definitely one of my favourite tracks to move along to.

I came across this song "Push It" by Salt N' Pepa about 2 years back when watching Dancing with the Stars. One couple danced one of the best cha-cha's ever to this song and I just fell in love with the track haha.

Anyway I remember downloading it and playing it in my car while driving my friend. I used to drive one friend home back then and when he heard this song he just laughed and laughed.

Guys~~ They can't help but think dirty. They can't enjoy decent music haha.

And then I was into this "Glee" fever and the cast did their thing with the song!!!

OMG!! I was so excited! They did brilliant and right now, I'm again into BABY BABY...ooo BABY BABY!!!
