TAM-MY-MUSIC, MY-LIFE

"A melody is like seeing someone for the first time, the physical attraction, sex...but then, as you get to know the person, that's the lyrics, they're story, who they are underneath. It's the combination of the two that makes it magic" - Sophie

START LIVING STOP COMPLAINING

x
x
Dolly Parton has proven the Chinese saying that "the older the ginger, the spicier it is" (this is kinda a direct translation, so pardon me haha). It kinda means that a person with experience are definitely better in the industry...and Dolly Parton represents the earlier generation of country singers with fantastic writing skills.

Okay, she might not be the hottest country babe, but this lady has got talent!

Although I personally think that Taylor Swift writes brilliantly, most of her songs are still centered around her love stories, and so, for some, it may really lack certain substance. (I mean, there are so much more in life than singing about the guy you had a crush on. That being said, I still love Taylor Swift's music.)

Dolly Parton's songs however are basically wonderful and inspirational stories told through music; and that's what I love about Dolly Parton's song. She doesn't just sing about love and crushes but she adds moral values into her music, and that is just awesome. The way she managed to pen such words beautifully into melodies has firmed her position in my list of ultimate song writers (others include Jason Mraz, John Mayer, Colbie Caillat and of course Taylor Swift).

This is one of Dolly's songs that really inspired me in many ways, besides "Coat of Many Colours".
This song reminds me to not complain but live life and get things done.

Everytime I feel that I feel that life is unfair, or when I just feel I have a reason to complain, I love to just listen to this song because, although it might not have instant effect on me haha, but at least I have something to help me get going, instead of just be stuck at the same spot and not moving.

Better Get To Livin' by Dolly Parton

Verse 1:
People always coming up to me,
And asking “Dolly what’s your secret?
With all you do your attitude just seems
To be so good how do you keep it?
Well am not the Dalai Lama but ill try,
To Offer up a few word of advice.

Chorus:
You’d better get to living, Givin’
Don’t forget to throw in a little forgiving’
And lovin’ on the way.
You’d better get knowing, showing
A little bit more concerned about where you’re going
Just a word unto the wise.
You’d better get to livin’.

Verse 2:
A girlfriend came to my house,
Started cryin’ on my shoulder,
Sunday evening. (Better Get To Living)
She’s she was spinnin’ such a sad tale I couldn’t believe
The yarn that she was waving’
So negative the words she had to say,
I said “If I had a violin I’d Play”

Chorus:
I said you’d better get to living, give in
Be willing and forgivin’
Cos our healin’ has to start with you.
You Better stop wining, pining,
Get your dreams in line and just
Shine, Design, Refine until They Come True.
And you’d better get to living

This verse just reminds me of people who just can't stop complaining about things in their life when in fact, they have almost everything. I mean, it is okay to vent once in a while but there are some people who just CAN'T stop getting over things and just move on. I mean, in the end, it is them who lose out because they are still not growing from the experience, but just blaming others for their own misfortunes, or for the fact that they don't get the things they want in life. Trust me, I know how it feels like to feel that the world is F unfair man! I've been there before, feeling that this world is just so unfair but then I guess I had been inspired to just move on and get on with life. I'm glad to say that it did lead me to a certain somewhere, though I could have done better. It really felt better to think back and go, I'm glad that I've just moved on and did great (in my own standards lar haha) rather than not work hard and just say...it's all the bloody dude's fault that this happened. But I don't deny that I still complain a lot when the time comes lar haha. Trust me, I complain a lot too sometimes, to a point I'm sick of myself haha.

Bridge:
Your life’s a wreck your house is a mess,
And your wardrobe is way outdated,
All your plans just keep on falling through,
Overweight and underpaid,
Underappreciated,
Am no guru but I tell you this I know is true

Chorus:
You’d better get to living, givin’
A little more thought about been a little more willing,
To make a better way (make a better Way)
Don’t sweat the small stuff, keep your chin up,
Just hang tough, and If it get too rough,
Fall on your knees and pray, and do that everyday
Then you’ll get to livin’

Oooo ...I love "don't sweat the small stuff, keep your chin up, just hang tough and when it gets too rough, fall on your knees and pray".
I'm so sorry but I never get people who dramatizes small small things; it is super annoying. I mean, spare the drama and get the thing done. I'm sorry but I hate it when there's a problem, the first thing people do is ask "who did it?" when the question should be ...how do we fix it? I mean you can ask who did it later and then dramatize it all you want, like I care but then don't create more problems when there is already enough problems. I know that it's always easier said than done, but then I always try to remember my dad's advice to not point the finger but solve the problem. That is one good advice from my dad that I'll treasure forever. That being said, I'm no angel okay. Sometimes I also can't help but start blaming first, so...well, let's try to do it as less as possible.

I'm also not a super religious person but I truly believe in prayers. I don't really know who I pray to, but I believe in something Mightier up there by the name of Gods and I always thank Them for everything. I'm not fanatically crazy or obsessed with their power but most of the time, They had been there and I just feel really blessed. And I try my best to really pray every night, just to help me go on in life - it could be just unsubstantial belief or it could be something real, I don't know, but my faith did help me get going. So it is true that when things get too rough, you pray. It helps in some unexplainable ways.

Outro:
The day were born we start to die,
So don’t waste one minute of this life,
Get to livin! (Get to livin’)
Share your dreams and share your Laughter and Make some points.
For the great hereafter. (Get to Livin’)

Better start caring,
Better start sharing
Better start tryin’,
Better start smilin’
And you better get to livin’.

I guess there is no better way to end this post than saying to all you folks out there "GET A LIFE!!!"

Smiles & cheers
With Lotsa Love,

A SONG THAT MAKES BEING SOLO BEARABLE

Okay. I haven't found the time to update this blog for quite some time. It is good that I'm still out living my life haha. This weekend had been hectic for me, but it was generally fun!

I've been trying to think of some great songs to introduce. Currently, I am kind of sick of my old playlist and I'm rejuvenating myself with old songs that had been stuck in my 500GB hard drive. I realized just a few days ago that I actually have more than 11GB of songs in my HD and now I'm trying to search for good inspiring songs within the list of more than a 1000 songs.

Anyway, if you've been listening to the radio recently, you'll know this particular song that I'm currently super into. It really gets me all hyped up and in the mood.

Iyaz - Solo

I don't want to walk this Earth,
If I gotta do it
Solo

See girl we used to be a team
Running the streets
Ya we was living out our dream, ohh

You used to be my rider
I was your provider
Now we separated in two
Oh when we was burning up the block
And everybody know when we step in the spot, ohh
See, we was like the dynamic duo
Id never thought that youd go , but you did
You did

Pre-Chorus -
Oh and baby you left and sailed away alone (Yeah, alone)
And now you got me trapped up on this island
where noway to get home

Chorus -
And I dont wanna go, go
I dont wanna go, girl
I dont wanna it, down low
I dont wanna it, down low
I dont want to walk this earth
If I gotta do it solo (solo)

Cuz I was so high
And now I'm so low
And I dont wanna walk around alone,(solo)
I said I dont want to walk this earth
If I gotta do it solo (solo, solo)

You was the beat onto my top line
Put us together
And you offered it the rewind
See, you give me a purpose
Now I'm getting nervous
That my heart will never sing again
Oh, when we were burning up the airways
They know us from the Virgin Islands to the U.K.
See, we was on the way to the platinum and gold
Never thought that youd go , but you did
Yeah, You did

Pre-Chorus
Chorus
Chorus 2

Bridge -
I dont wanna walk S-O-L-O
I dont wanna walk S-O-L-O
Oh nooo (Oh nooo)
Solooo (solooo)
I dont wanna walk S-O-L-O
I dont wanna walk S-O-L-O (let me say)
I dont ever wanna let your love go
Oh nooo (Oh nooo)
I dont wanna walk S-O-L-O

Chorus -
And I dont wanna go, no
I dont wanna go, girl
I dont wanna it, no no
I dont wanna it, no no
I dont want to walk this earth
If I gotta do it solo (solo)

Cuz I was so high
And now I'm so low
And I dont wanna walk around alone, solo
I said I dont want to walk this earth
If I gotta do it solo (solo, solo)

It's not that I can relate to this song but I just love it because it is fun to sing along too. These few mornings, I find myself just bouncing along the rhythms of "Solo, solo"...it just makes my morning because it is so upbeat. It makes a tired morning a bit more cheerier.

If you like songs with a bit of Jamaican touch - like Sean Kingston, you'll like Iyaz. Iyaz's "Replay" was also super fun, but right now, the in thing is "Solo" of course haha.

Check it out.

Great track for stressed out souls~
Though ironically, it remains you of how lonely you are if you are single haha.

Cheers
With Lotsa Love,
TammyC
Will write about deeper songs when I have the time. Right now, I'm just thinking of my bed and how my muscle will feel when I lay on it. Good night.

SPREAD YOUR INFECTIOUS SMILES

There are many songs that cheer me up when I'm down.
Sometimes, it's unbelievable what music can do.

In this particular post, I'm going to talk about 2 of my favourite "Smile" songs. Like literally entitled "Smile" songs.

The first one reminds you to be constantly happy although its slow jazz-like tune doesn't really seem that upbeat.
I read a comment on my post (the one on Michael Buble's "Haven't Met You Yet") which mentioned this artist and I went to check her out.
The first song from her that I saw on Youtube was entitled a simple but meaningful word - Smile.

It's nothing like Lily Allen's or Uncle Kracker's "Smile" (both tracks I likey by the way).
This is probably one of the jazz songs that I like. I don't usually like Jazz but this one is really not bad. It reminds us about one core thing that many don't remember to do, and that is to SMILEEEEEEE~

Aiyo but I usually smile so some people actually think I'm nuts lar. But there are times when I'm so stressed out I kinda forgot how to smile and there are also times in which I'm so sad, I just can't or have to fake one.

That's life really. That's why we just need cheerio songs or sometimes inspirational songs to cheer us up...
I guess this is one that reminds you of just that - to live within happiness despite the pain because it is true that you choose how you want to feel. (though many times I tried to feel happy when I'm sad and it failed lar)

Smile by Mandy Harvey

Mandy Harvey lost her hearing 3 years ago but she never gives up on her dreams. I think that deserves a huge applause.

Smile though your heart is aching,
Smile even though it's breaking,
When there are clouds in the sky,
You'll get by,
If you smile through your fear and sorrow,
Smile and maybe tomorrow,
You'll see the sun shining through for you,
Light up your face with gladness,
Hide every trace of sadness,
Although a tear may be ever so near,
That's the time you must keep on trying,
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll see that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile

I try my best to smile even though I'm sad though it is never easy. Most of the times I'm really happy but I remember those super low moments in my life that I almost feel that I can't get through and I felt that life is so meaningless. However, I don't really always cry when I'm sad, though I really feel like it. I have problems crying these days. I feel so sad but I just can't get them tears out when I need to release them.

These few days had been smiley ones for me though. There were many great things that happened for me and I met one or two great people whom I really enjoy spending time with. So things are really great for me. Should have nothing to complain about (but I'm human so I can still find things to complain about one haha). But this song reminds me of my saddest time in life and the next time I feel that low again, I shall remember this song.

Alright. A change of mood.
Let me teleport you to a world of happiness.
You know the feeling of pure happiness because the one you love just made your day?
That special happy feeling that special someone gave you?
Oh yeah...this is the song for you to help relive those moments.

You make me smile!!~

(Another)
Smile By Uncle Kracker

You're better then the best
I'm lucky just to linger in your light

Cooler then the flip side of my pillow, that's right

Completely unaware
Nothing can compare to where you send me,
Lets me know that it's ok, yeah it's ok
And the moments where my good times start to fade

You make me smile like the sun
Fall out of bed, sing like bird
Dizzy in my head, spin like a record
Crazy on a Sunday night
You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold, buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Ohh, you make me smile

Even when you're gone
Somehow you come along
Just like a flower poking the sidewalk crack and just like that
You steal away the rain and just like that

You make me smile like the sun
Fall out of bed, sing like bird
Dizzy in my head, spin like a record
Crazy on a Sunday night
You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold, buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Ohh, you make me smile

Don't know how I lived without you
Cuz everytime that I get around you
I see the best of me inside your eyes
You make me smile
You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold, buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild

You make me smile like the sun
Fall out of bed, sing like bird
Dizzy in my head, spin like a record
Crazy on a Sunday night
You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold, buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Ohh, you make me smile

This is just one fun song.
'You make me smile like the sun.....the thought of you can drive me wild"
There is no just one person who does that to me. Everyone I love makes me happy every single day. I'm just grateful for the people I have around me...I have the coolest, funnest, cheeriest, nicest people as friends and family members so I guess, what more can I ask for, right?

So people I hope this post gets you smiling a bit lar.
Oh here's one more cool poem about SMILES.
I just love it

A smile is quite a funny thing,
It wrinkles up your face,
And when it's gone you never find
Its secret hiding place.

But far more wonderful it is,
To see what smiles can do.
You smile at one, he smiles at you,
And so one smile makes two.

He smiles at someone, since you smile,
And then that one smiles back,
And that one smiles until, in truth,
You fail in keeping track.

And since a smile can do great good,
By cheering hearts of care.
Let's smile and not forget the fact

That smiles go everywhere.

SPREAD THE SMILE!

WINE TASTING

This song is about your first love.
It's just a nice song that I just love for no special reasons.

Introducing Deana Carter

Yes, she's a country singer haha

They say that the first love is the deepest - there could be truth in that, but I really don't know haha. I've crushes but not real love I guess. (Perhaps I'm heartless...)
They say the person you first fall in love with will leave the longest impression on you and usually, you will never forget that first him/her. This song is just about that. Deana Carter compared her first love to the bitter-sweetness of Strawberry wine.
It was green on the vine - I personally feel that this phrase perfectly describes the feeling of being young and in love. Green because you're still young and fresh and you are still that naive little girl who desperately seeks love. The vines of love binds you and get you all 'messed' up in the lovey-dovey mood you just can't get yourself out of it.
As sweet as love can be...it can hurt too...so ya...(I can be quite negative when it comes to relationships so bear with me if I destroy your beautiful picturesque of romance lol. Oh but I do love some love songs...)

I can't personally relate to this song but I'm sure many of you can...so enjoy!!~
I hope it brings you back to your first love.

He was working through college on my grandpa's farm
I was thirsting for for knowledge and he had a car
I was caught somewhere between a woman and a child
When one restless summer we found love growing wild
On the banks of the river on a well beaten path
Funny how those memories they last

Like strawberry wine and seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love oh bittersweet
Green on the vine
Like strawberry wine

I still remember when thirty was old
My biggest fear was September when he had to go
A few cards and letters and one long distance call
We drifted away like the leaves in the fall
But year after year I come back to this place
Just to remember the taste

Of strawberry wine and seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love oh bittersweet
Green on the vine
Like strawberry wine

The fields have grown over now
Years since they've seen a plow
There's nothing time hasn't touched
Is it really him or the loss of my innocence
I've been missing so much

Like strawberry wine and seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love oh bittersweet
Green on the vine
Like strawberry wine

I don't have the official video for this song but I have this clip from Dancing With The Stars in which Chelsie Hightower waltzes along with Ty Murray. Beautiful dance that made me fall in love with the song. Enjoy!

I love the dance but I love Chelsie's dress even more!!
