BE DEAF BUT NOT BLINDED TO WHO YOU ARE

I don't know about you but I'm that kinda person who really cares about what others think and feel about me sometimes. I think I care what people I like think about me.

I mean sometimes when I meet someone new that I feel I really like to befriend, I usually really hope they like me too and you know, sorta hope they don't have anything negative to say.

And most the time, I'm so sensitive about things that it hurts when I hear certain criticism (though there's no doubt, sometimes I get over it real quick haha) but there are times where the sadness lingers.

My sis has this philosophy in life in which she doesn't care about what others think about her because she has this "who needs them anyway" attitude. It's cool in some ways because she doesn't really care and thus, her confidence will not falter no matter what  others say.

But if you are like me and you can't live with knowing people don't like you, you just can't feel good about yourself sometimes. Well my situation is not that bad lar, I still am not that pathetic but what happens sometimes is, people like us tend to try to change who we are just to be accepted.

That's why we need some words of wisdom and inspiration as reminder to get us going and to remind us to always be ourselves no matter what others say.
Haha.

Okay let me introduce this song to you. This is one of my UK song. When I say my UK song, it means I listened to this song a lot when I was walking down the streets of Liverpool.

Not that I'm very depressed in UK, it's just that I was very into Justin Nozuka at that time.
I believe many of you might have heard of Justin Nozuka (erm not Justin Bieber okay), Justin Nozuka pens some of the best songs. He has a certain unique style to his songs and I just find his tracks very relaxing and nice to the ears. Plus, he writes meaningfully so the songs are not full of crappy lyrics.

So be prepared to be awed and touched by this song.
I don't know if you think it's dreary or slow, but I think'z' it awesomezz...

It started with a chant that hypnotizes...

Open your eyes
Close your ears
Close your ears
Open your eyes
Listen to the words you see
You are blind to what you hear
Listen to the words you see
Do not fear the truth beneath
Reach for roots beneath the trees
Listen to the words you seek
Don't listen to a word they say
Do NOT listen to a word you've heard
Do not listen to a word you've heard
People are people we live for our own
Live how you think not by what you've been told

I've been a fool
I've been a fool
Walking the line with both of my eyes shut
And I'm begging you I'm begging you
Don't listen to a word you've heard don't listen to a word you've heard
This world is full of strangers this world is full of 'hypocrites'
Scratching for their winnings at least I am one to admit
Born in a world relying on gold
I've yet to find someone under control
People are people and we live for our own
Live how you think not by what you've been told
Don't listen to a word you've heard don't listen to a word you've heard
Don't listen to a word you've heard don't listen to a word you've heard
The flag waves up above you for liberty and freedom
And fighting for your nation killing a wive's daughter's husband's son and you're told that
you're being attacked by terrorist invasions but over and over again it is you who points the gun
Hey now don't listen to a word you've heard don't listen to a word you've heard don't listen
to a word you've heard don't listen to a word you've heard

If you close your eyes right now
Try to seek a vision you can listen to
A vision of collisions of what you know is true
You can do what you pursue if you only try to
To open your eyes
And listen to the visions colliding with collisions
Collisions on a mission
Risen from what you've listened to
Listen to
No
Don't listen to a word you've heard
Don't listen to a word you've heard
Unless
Unless the word that you've heard is a word that you said
Close your ears to words from out
Unless the word came out your head
Or the word was built with your hands
Close your soul to a voice of a man from a non distant land
Cause that man has a plan to put bullets through your stand
Do you stand under this
Or
Do you stand over this
Do you over stand me
You must not be listening
Its O.K. I understand
Why
I
We
No he,
Told you
But Do
If you have the words inside your self
Then
Listen to the words you hear
Listen to the words you say
Listen to the words you say

Listen to the words you say

Seriously, this Justin is better than the Bieber haha & he is pretty cute too ;P.

Here's Justin doing his live thingy
Artistes  like him sings beautiful in acoustic man!

Alright people!
Til' next time
Don't listen to a word they say so you can basically disregard me also haha.

PUSHING IT!!!

Ooooo Baby Baby..
Ba..baby baby
Oooo Baby Baby...

Okay this is one fun song....it's all about party-ing baby!!
And in Glee, they sorta turn it into a more sexy song lar hahaha, but the song originally does carry instances of sex haha. I mean, what else can one mean by pushing it?
Okay let's think innocent for a while because I am innocent...Push the radio button so that the music continue playing?

Okay back to the song.
It is definitely one of my favourite tracks to move along to.
I came across this song "Push It" by Salt N' Pepa about 2 years back when watching Dancing with the Stars. One couple danced one of the best cha-cha's ever to this song and I just fell in love with the track haha.

Anyway I remember downloading it and playing it in my car while driving my friend. I used to drive one friend home back then and when he heard this song he just laughed and laughed.
Guys~~ They can't help but think dirty. They can't enjoy decent music haha.

And then I was into this "Glee" fever and the cast did their thing with the song!!!
OMG!! I was so excited! They did brilliant and right now, I'm again into BABY BABY...ooo BABY BABY!!!

So peeps...hope you enjoy the "Glee" folks pushing it!

And here's another treat.
One of the best cha-cha's by Julianne Hough and Apollo Anton Ohno (yes, the Winter Olympic Athlete), winner of DWTS Season 2.

Ah, push it
Ah, push it
Oooh, baby, baby
Baby, baby
Oooh, baby, baby
Baby, baby
Get up on this!
Ow! Baby! Salt and Pepa's here!
[Now wait a minute, y'all

This dance ain't for everybody
Only the sexy people
So all you fly mothers, get on out there and dance
Dance, I said!]

Salt and Pepa's here, and we're in effect
Want you to push it, babe
Coolin' by day then at night working up a sweat
C'mon girls, let's go show the guys that we know
How to become number one in a hot party show (though in Glee, I think they use the word PORN haha)
Now push it

Ah, push it - push it good
Ah, push it - push it real good
Ah, push it - push it good
Ah, push it - p-push it real good

Hey! Ow!
Push it good!

Oooh, baby, baby
Baby, baby
Oooh, baby, baby
Baby, baby

Yo, yo, yo, yo, baby-pop
Yeah, you come here, gimme a kiss
Better make it fast or else I'm gonna get pissed
Can't you hear the music's pumpin' hard like I wish you would?
Now push it
Push it good
P-push it real good
Ah, push it
Get up on this!
Boy, you really got me going
You got me so I don't know what I'm doing
Ah, push it

Alright folks
Peace out & push it baby!!
Let's take the song as an inspiration.
Let's look at "Push it" as
Pushing our limits....work HARD & succeed! Haha

With that, I leave all of you with a good night.

SHOW YOUR TRUE COLOURS

I really need to update the my music blog but  right now, all the songs on my playlist are from "Glee".

So I guess, I can only think of "Glee" songs to post haha.
This song has been one of my favourites and the cast of Glee brought tears to my eyes with their beautiful rendition of it.

It's a touching song that reminds us to be ourselves.
I guess that in life, there are many people trying to define who we should be, and I guess there are times in which you try so hard to please others, you just lost sight of who you are. And usually, when you aren't yourself, you are not really happy.

I've been in some ways in that situation; I guess sometimes, I just don't know who I really am, or don't dare be who I think I am because I'm worried that I won't be accepted or that I'll be judged.

But at the end of the day, one is most beautiful when they are themselves - though weird or quirky, it is those unique qualities that set one apart. And the people who accept and love you for the way you are the people in life that you should treasure and love. Because they are the ones who will always tell you that you are special in your own way, especially when you feel so out of place. I guess I've always needed someone to tell me that, though I still haven't had anyone tell me that yet. Oh well...

This is Phil Collin's True Colours, which was also sang by the cast of Glee.

You with the sad eye
Don't be discouraged
Oh I realise
It's hard to take courage
In a world full of people
You can lose sight of it all
And darkness still inside you
Make you feel so small

But I see your true colors
Shinin' through
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful,
Like a rainbow.

Show me a smile then,
Don't be unhappy,
Can't remember when I last saw you laughing
If this world makes you crazy
And you've taken all you can bear
You call me up
Because you know I'll be there

And I see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors,
True colors, are beautiful,
Like a rainbow

Ah ah ah

Spoken: Can't remember when I last saw you laughing

If this world makes you crazy
You've taken all you can bear
You call me up (call me up)
Because you know I'll be there (know I'll be there)

And I'll see your true colors
Shining through (I see them shining through)
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you (that's why I love you)
So don't be afraid (afraid) to let them show
Your true colors, true colors
I see your true colors shining through (yeah)
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid (afraid) to let them show
Your true colors
True colors, true colors
True colors, are beautiful like a rainbow

The original version of the song by Mr. Phil Collins

Jenna Ushkowitz did even better in recording, I think she's really nervous in this performance for the White House but she is good!

Enjoy and don't be afraid to show your True Colours!~
Remember, we should always colour our own book and not let other define our colours.

YOU CAN'T DEFY GLEE-VITY

Okay, recently, I'm so into Glee because I just got the whole season 1 from my colleague. Super!!

Love this Hairspray style poster

I've heard many talk about this TV show and how brilliant it is but I never got a chance to watch it because I just didn't find the motivation to actually download it. You know, I'm always having troubles when it comes to downloading TV shows. I never get the ones I want complete.

So yes, I was ecstatic and feeling "glee"ful about the fact that I've all 13 episodes of "Glee" now safely in my hard drive. I've been watching it over the weekend, trying to limit myself to 2 episodes per night so that I don't finish all of it so soon. I still have 2 more episodes before I finish all 13. The storyline of "Glee" is pretty much like any teen series but what makes it exceptional is that it has theatrical elements in it and it is accompanied by super cool songs and music!! That is why it rocks.

Many who knows me well would know that I'm a huge fan of musicals because I love music - I love to sing (or some would prefer to call it screaming my lungs out, out of tune) and also dance (though some would prefer to call it, crazy movements that almost imitates one having a seizure). So I've been told that "Glee" is definitely the TV show for me and IT IS!

Okay what am I doing here talking about "Glee"  in my music blog, right?
Oh well, of all the great songs the cast of "Glee" has been doing, I was most awed by this one when Rachel and Kurt sang it. This song went deep into my heart and touches me with its melody and lyrics. I mean, the rest of the songs are also brilliant and fun, but this one, captures me the first time I heard it, maybe because I've never heard it before.

So here is "Defying Gravity".
I love the lyrics to this song because it tells us to go beyond limits, go against words that tries to belittle you, so that we achieve things that we were told we can't do. It tells us to reach for the stars; it is a really inspirational song.

Rachel:

Something has changed within me,
Something is not the same.
I'm through with playing by the rules
Of someone else's game.

Kurt:
Too late for second-guessing,
Too late to go back to sleep.
It's time to trust my instincts,
Close my eyes and leap.

Both:
It's time to try
Defying gravity
I think I'll try
Defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye I'm
Defying Gravity
And you won't bring me down...

Rachel:
I'm through accepting limits
'Cause someone says they're so.

Kurt:
Some things I cannot change,
But till I try, I'll never know.

Rachel:
Too long I've been afraid of

Kurt:
Losing love I guess I've lost.

Both:
Well, if that's love,
It comes at much too high a cost!

I'd sooner buy
Defying gravity.
Kiss me goodbye,
I'm defying gravity.
I think I'll try
Defying Gravity
And you won't bring me down.

I'd sooner buy
Defying gravity.
Kiss me goodbye,
I'm defying gravity.
I think I'll try
Defying Gravity

And you won't bring me down.
Bring me down!

Ahhahhoahh

This is the Glee cast version of the song

"Defying Gravity" is apparently from the musical "Wicked", and popularly sang by Idina Menzel. Okay, I could be biased but Glee version is still better haha.
Enjoy.
Below I've embedded the album version of the song.

So I'll leave you with this great track and til' next time.

BEAUTIFUL DISASTER

Some people just don't see that they are worthy of love.
On the surface, some people seemed confident and okay, but who knows the insecurities that lies underneath beautiful skins.

I guess most of us 'ugly' people think that 'beautiful' people have it easy. They have the looks and all, and oh well, they always seemed to have the upper hand. I guess one thing I'll never understand is how beautiful people can feel that they have nothing. Haha. But I know it's wrong to think that because everyone feels insecure and will feel sad and will face problems, no matter what shapes and sizes we are.

It is sad everytime I see beautiful people (be it those with inner or outer beauty) feel that they are lacking in certain ways. Hmmm...I guess it's always hard to tell ourselves that we are good enough. But then there are some vain people who can't get over themselves and have inflated ego to think that they themselves are the best. Oh well, let's just say it's always hard to find that balance of not short-changing yourself but then not overly confident.

I love the song below because it tells a story about a beautiful girl who feels not good enough. It's about a girl who feels that no one loves her because of her imperfections. It's about how sometimes, we just wish that someone would tell us that it's okay to be ourselves.

As human, we always feel that our values lies in what is on the outside but forgetting that it is often what's in the inside that makes us special. I guess there are always moments when we feel so 'ugly' that we loses confidence and we do anything others tells us to just so that we feel better and feel 'beautiful' again. Then think again, are you happy being what others tell you or do you feel happier and more comfortable being who you really are?

I agree totally with the line "Every magazine tells her she's not good enough"
Try flippin' through magazines and you'll find hot babes with sexy bods rocking the covers or pages. But seriously, imagine how many people in real life can be like them. Celebrities can afford trainers and nutritionists to help them with their body but imagine a 15 year old struggling with insecurities - what will she end up doing just to be like those celebs.

Magazines are ideological whether you agree or not...and through these pictures, they tell us that to be deem pretty, you need to be like these hot people. I don't know if you notice but I am always seeing larger size celebs always end up losing weight and looking slim. Okay, I don't mind if some are just trying to live healthier, it's a good thing, but then some of them who are just vigorously working out just to look hot is again reinforcing the message that too look good, you need to be slim.

I believe that those gracing the front covers of teen or girl magazines should serve as role models to other girls, but mags are indirectly feeding us lies by touching up those pictures, making those hot dudes and babes look angelic and flawless. The truth is, nobody is flawless and when they mags make celebs look as if they are flawless, ordinary girls (or for that matter boys) feel the pressure to follow them stars in order to be likable.

I guess with this song, McLaughlin's message is that what defines 'beauty' is really a person who sets their own standards, and wouldn't compromise who they are just so they are accepted. So if your boyfriend asks you to get your boobs enlarged, just screw them and tell them to like your breasts just the way they are muahaha! Okay no kiddin'.

The song tells us a sad tale about a girl who is pressured to be beautiful, when she already is pretty. She just doesn't realized the beauty that is within her.

It's a song loving yourself and that everyone is beautiful in their own ways - we just don't know it. Beauty is not defined but what is on the outside, but actually who you are in the inside. Cliche but I really believe that it is the truth. I've been in situation where I think that the dude is so super hot but once I know him, oh man, I just don't see him as hot anymore. Seriously, believe me, it happens. Then there are some people who might not catch your attention at first, but once you know him/her, that person is just so beautiful. Hmmm I don't know about you but I'd really rather be the latter haha.

The song is by Jon McLaughlin (the hot dude who sang "So Close" for the Disney movie "Enchanted".

She loves her mama's lemonade,
Hates the sounds that goodbyes make.
She prays one day she'll find someone to need her.
She swears that there's no difference,
Between the lies and complements.
It's all the same if everybody leaves her.

And every magazine tells her she's not good enough,
The pictures that she sees make her cry.

And she would change everything, everything just ask her.
Caught in the in between of beautiful disaster,
And she needs someone to take her home.

She's giving boys what they want, tries to act so nonchalant,
Afraid they'll see that she's lost her direction.
She never stays the same for long,
Assuming that she'll get it wrong.
Perfect only in her imperfection.

(I this verse. I guess some of us are so worried about ourselves being not perfect enough and we do everything just so we can please others, and in the process, I guess sacrificing what we personally want for ourselves. I guess sometimes, we just need that someone to tell us that it is okay to be imperfect, it is okay to be ourselves and not what everyone else wants us to be. This song tells us that through a beautiful melody.)

She's not a drama queen,
She doesn't want to feel this way, only seventeen but tired
She would change everything for happy ever after.
Caught in the in between of beautiful disaster,
But she just needs someone to take her home.

Cuz she's just the way she is, but no ones told her that's ok.
And she would change everything, everything just ask her.
Caught in the in between of beautiful disaster,
And she would change everything for happy ever after.
Caught in the in between of beautiful disaster,

But she just needs someone to take her home
And just needs someone to take her home.

Jon McLaughlin sings some of the best songs and I really love how he brings emotions into his singing. Sometimes you don't feel the singers when they sing but Jon McLaughlin is one of those who fills his songs with heartfelt emotions - oh well, at least that is what I think.

Check this video out. It's really simple but it indirectly tells us that everyone is special and unique in their own ways. This vid really kinda rock! I love how something so simple can be so deep at the same time. Enjoy~
